We encountered these magic animals (Bengal tigers) at Kanha & Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh, India in February 2008. It was an amazing experience and its very sad to know that these animals are seriously threatened and that there are only 1400 left of them in the wild India. Worldwide there are approximately 2500 tigers left in the wild. The main reasons for the decreasing population are poaching and loss of habitat. We stayed at Bandavgarh and at Kanha Jungle lodge, owned by the family of the founder of project tiger. Very knowledgeable people, operating with care for the environment. One of the things you can do for the tiger is visit the tiger reserves in India. Tourism is the main source of income for the conservation of the tiger reserves. An other thing: You definitely wont regret it!
