The Zoetrope

Video Info

Description: This is a modern replica of a Victorian Zoetrope, found at the Guildhall museum, Rochester, Kent, UK. The machine was originally invented by William Horner in 1834. This one is coin operated, and costs 10p to run. The device worked by spinning very quickly, and the user looking through the holes in the side, which acted as frame dividers, for the short animation drawn inside. The result was a short fliker film, much like you see here.
