The NGND was conceived with the desire to place a positive message in the public realm specifically intended for young females of color (12 to 19 yrs,) living in our inner cities. The filmmakers goal is to inform & educate by giving positive visual representations to female teen and the young adult demographics that will help re conceptualize the current urban models of minority and cultural marginalization coupled with the concepts of femininity and empowerment as a social reality. The NGND is the real story as told by successful females of color speaking candidly about their teenage and young womanhood experiences specifically emphasizing that tender transition phase from adolescence into adulthood, which includes prom, graduation, and early college and/or early career experiences from which the audience will gain wisdom, insight and inspiration.
