R.I.P.off Kombat: Disney's Aladdin (SNES) 1st Level vs. Aladdin II (Unlicensed) 1st Level

Video Info

Description: For a change, here is a video featuring an original game and its ripoff. In the first half of the video, you will be seeing Disneys Aladdin, a video game released on the SNES based on the movie of the same name. Various games came out with that same name too on different consoles, such as the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, see that version here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktHhf7XqMaQ , but they featured different gameplay. In the second half of the video, you will see the same level in an unlicensed game released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, it is a ripoff of the SNES game, a ripoff was also made on the NES. The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive ripoff is called Aladdin II because there was already another Aladdin game on the console. Those who made the pirate conversion of the SNES game for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive tried to pass it as a sequel to the official Disneys Aladdin for Segas console so that those who bought the first game would buy this one also. Unlicensed games, meaning games who were released on a video game console without the authorization of the makers such as Nintendo or Sega, respectively for the SNES and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, were more common than youd think, especially on 8 bit consoles such as the NES. This ripoff is inferior to the SNES original, in looks and sounds, but that would be understandable for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The problem is that the official Aladdin game for that console looks better than this too, since it features hand drawn animations giving it a look closer to the movie. Comparing the ripoff to the SNES version, we can also see that the animations look more awkward, especially when climbing. While testing the game, I also found that the hit detection was a little bit different in a way thats annoying but hard to explain. Comparing to other ripoffs Ive seen though, this one manages to look like the original as much as it can, while notably missing the golden beetle which would give a bonus in the original (also present in the NES ripoff).
