FAQ:
Im intrested in how these work. If you have recorded 6 loops for example, how does one remove 4 and 5 after that as he did on 2:20?
Youre only seeing 2/3s of the system, and the two songs I build are done slightly differently.
The pedals shown are 1) Boss OC 2 Octavizer, makes notes sound an octave lower (I use if for the bass things) and 2) Digitech Hardwire DL 8 Delay/Looper.
The first song (A Loop is a Piece...) is built just with the DL 8, basic overdub looping.
What you dont see is that Im also running Ableton Live on my laptop, the same laptop that is filming the stationary shot (which is why you dont see it ... of course). Ableton Live allows me to mute/unmute, switch to a new loop and back again, and do all kinds of fancy tricks. The second song (which doesnt have a name?) is done thusly. There are pedals that will allow you to store multiple sections, and to bring some layers in and out, but the DL 8 is not one of those.
What equipment should I buy to start live looping?
Difficult to say... there are many great, effective options. I recommend you start with a software based looper search on google, there are several good ones that will give you an idea of how it works. Then, watch a lot of youtube videos, see what other people are using, visit your local music store to test some out, and make your decision based on your needs. |
