Jyothirmayi in Snake Song ilaku ilakente... from the movie ADAYALANGAL Best movie award winner of the state Snake Song in Kerala is known as Kalamezhuthu Paattu or Sarpam Pattu. It is a ritual art performing by the Pulluva community as part of snake worship. Pulluvan is playing pulluva veena and Pulluvathi (the female partner of pulluvan)is using a special musical instrument called Kudam which is a pot attached to a string. (In this video, another male is playing kudam which is not common.) This instrument is using nowhere other than for this particular art. The entire ritual takes around 4 to 6 hours including the preparations.
