Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) John 19:41 (Shepherd) (22) (((Stereo)))

Video Info

Description: The Shepherd scene. I reedited this scene to try and enhance the video to make it easier to see the shepherd crossing the shot at 1:44. Its been said this was unintentional. Also check the video to the new fullscreen HQ reedit. This is a direct quote from Ted Neeley about this profound scene: Neeley: And let me just say: Those who have eyes to see will see that mysterious someone. The reason is that (director) Norman Jewison and myself took issue with the fact that (creators Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber) felt the piece needed to end with a crucifixion, showing no suggestion of possible resurrection and ascension. So when Norman made the film, that mysterious appearance is to suggest that life does go on, that there was resurrection of the spirit. The shepherd can be seen entering the shot from the viewers left screen near the bottom during the last minute or so of the sunset shot and is only visible for a few seconds.Enjoy. Please also note: Ted Neeley catagorically states that the BUS USED IN JCS 1973 WAS NOT HIS BANDS TOUR BUS as is incorrectly stated on many sites including IMDB. This is explained further in the interview. (~Ric~) To hear a live (recorded) interview with Ted Neeley and a profound explanation of this scene, click the link below.
