(Ghana, Africa): The Afri-Can Connection and Nelson the Math Whiz

Video Info

Description: The Afri Can Connection is in partnership with the Manye Foundation which runs a school for migrant children in Kpone Barrier outside of Tema in Ghana, West Africa. The families of the children do not earn sufficient money in order to send their children to school. The Manye Academy was born out of the recognition that these children needed an education. Today there are 300 children attending the school. This number continues to rise as more families move into the area looking for work in the surrounding region. In this video Nelson is at Manye Academy practicing mathematics with a few of our members. Nelson proved to be unusually bright when it came to BEDMAS and algebra. His abilities highlight the need to build a permanent school on the location where the temporary school currently sits. Nelson is far too bright to be allowed to fall down and remain in the system of poverty that his families currently finds themselves in.
