He did his schooling at Pogos and St. Gregorys High School. After attending Jagannath college he moved to Calcutta in 1941. He joined Iron and Steel Co., a government owned corporation. Initially, he lived with his sister at Ashwini Dutta Road in Ballygunj for about 2 years. He then moved to Charu Avenue in Tollygunj, where his family still lives today. _________________________________________
