The Petaluma community is guilty of having a BIG HEART! On June 4th, 2008 jailbirds for the Petaluma Lock Up joined MDA in fundraising geared towards sending Bay Area kids to summer camp. The Petaluma Police Department and the Sonoma County Sheriff Department graciously volunteered to arrest our jailbirds and whisked them to Tolay Restaurant at the Sheraton Hotel. There the jailbirds faced Judge Leslie and she sentenced them to sending 2 kids with muscle disease to camp. The Petaluma Lock Up was a great success raising over $23,000! Jan Scott from Curves raised $2,000 and was our Top Jailbird! Jailbirds were the finest of business owners and community leaders coming together to raise money for the MDA. Once sentenced, jailbirds mixed and mingled with other friendly felons locked up for good. The event was filmed by Around Town TV & Council for Community Television. The filming crew included Tom Corbett, Mike McDowd and Chris Bollini. They did a fantastic job capturing the spirit of the Petaluma Lock Up; interviewing our jailbirds, arresting officers, our host and our friendly judge. Thank you to all the Petaluma Jailbirds for raising money for Bay Area families living with neuromuscular diseases. Your efforts made this event a great success! |
